Shiguresaigho
the 15th Shuntokai's premiere production written by Mokuami Saigyohoshi
Despairing of the
world the protagonist retires into religion, and then makes a
pilgrimage. At Eguchi no Sato, he begs lodging and talks with
a prostitute about his life story. And when he closes his eyes
the prostitute changes to Fugen Bodhisattva and Saigyohoshi is
worshiped.
This is adzuma-ryu's
typical program.
Hokushu
Hokushu is the red-light
district,of Yoshiwara located in the north of Edo. This is a story
depicting Hokusu's four seasons. Generally, Hokushu is Suodori
dancing without costume for celebration. In the original choreography
of Fujima Masaya, Hokushu is danced with the costume of prostitutes.
Keisei Dojoji
The first performance
of Edo Nakamura-za in the 16 year of Kyoho. This is the first
music performance of dohoji during the Edo period. Since then,
it hasn't been performed often. However a classic revival, brought
about a renewed interest. In the 10th year of Showa Dojoji Sanshu
was performed by the 1st and the 2nd head, Tokuho Society's performance.
Since then it has gain public favor and is widely acknowledged
for its excellence. This Dojoji has several different points from
the others, especially that of a dance in the middle of the song.
The prostitute Katsuragi reached Chuzanji temple in Sayo and there
she rang the temple bell continuously to escape life's suffering.
However she fell to hell and was tortured. This story is also
called Mugensho Shin Dojoji or Chuzan Dojoji.
Yuya
Yuya is the name of
a woman. She is Taira no Munemori's mistress. Her mother became
sick but she was not allowed to go home to see her. Munemori took
her to see the cherry blossoms. Here she compose a poem of spring
rain scattering the cherry blossom to indicate her sick mother.
When Munemori's reades the peom his mind changes and he allows
Yuya to see her mother.
