Shiguresaigho the 15th Shuntokai's premiere production written by Mokuami Saigyohoshi

Despairing of the world the protagonist retires into religion, and then makes a pilgrimage. At Eguchi no Sato, he begs lodging and talks with a prostitute about his life story. And when he closes his eyes the prostitute changes to Fugen Bodhisattva and Saigyohoshi is worshiped.

This is adzuma-ryu's typical program.

Hokushu

Hokushu is the red-light district,of Yoshiwara located in the north of Edo. This is a story depicting Hokusu's four seasons. Generally, Hokushu is Suodori dancing without costume for celebration. In the original choreography of Fujima Masaya, Hokushu is danced with the costume of prostitutes.

Keisei Dojoji

The first performance of Edo Nakamura-za in the 16 year of Kyoho. This is the first music performance of dohoji during the Edo period. Since then, it hasn't been performed often. However a classic revival, brought about a renewed interest. In the 10th year of Showa Dojoji Sanshu was performed by the 1st and the 2nd head, Tokuho Society's performance. Since then it has gain public favor and is widely acknowledged for its excellence. This Dojoji has several different points from the others, especially that of a dance in the middle of the song. The prostitute Katsuragi reached Chuzanji temple in Sayo and there she rang the temple bell continuously to escape life's suffering. However she fell to hell and was tortured. This story is also called Mugensho Shin Dojoji or Chuzan Dojoji.

Yuya

Yuya is the name of a woman. She is Taira no Munemori's mistress. Her mother became sick but she was not allowed to go home to see her. Munemori took her to see the cherry blossoms. Here she compose a poem of spring rain scattering the cherry blossom to indicate her sick mother. When Munemori's reades the peom his mind changes and he allows Yuya to see her mother.





Tachibana

The introductory performance of the 4th head, in the 9th year of Showa. This work is the sbject of the seasons with reference to Tachibana.

Yagura Sanbaso

This music was selected in the 46th year of Showa in connection with Ichimuraya's Zatsuki Kyogen. It is a performance belonging to the theater. Disguises, costumes with Agemaki and bells made of Tachibana are distinctive features of this story.

Kotobukimanzai and Kenbutsuzaemon

The introductory performance of the head in the 9th year of Showa. It was revived as Hanatachibana Kotobuki Kyogen because it was Ichimura-za's Zatsuki Kyogen performance belonging to the theatre. Kotobuki Manzai expresses institutions and customs of auspicious things by Tayu and Saizo. Kenbutsuzaemon was revived as the present head's introductory performance. Various scenes of the capital are described.

Kasanetachibana

Introductory music for the present head. This music describes the elegance of Fujinohana (Japanese wisteria), the seed of tachibana, the flower and fragrance of tachibana.

Kiku

This story describes female life through the flower of chrysanthemum. See the the growth process of woman in the growth process of chrysanthemum.

Yagura no Oshichi

This dance is based on the famous story of Yaoya Oshichi. Oshichi's strong emotion toward Kichizo is described.

Hachigatsu Jyugoya no Chaya

In Marlon Brando and Kyo Machiko's movie Hachigatsu Jyugoya no Chaya, the geisha Renka danced with this music. The original title is: August Moon in Teahouse.

Adzuma no Nigiwai

Several kinds of festivals in Edo and Kiyari dancing. This is the story of lively festivals.

Yashiki Musume (Gidayu)

There is a dance of customs in edo that Yashikimusume amuses herself singing Kudoki and Mariuta. The performance of Gidayu is Adzuma's unique characteristic.

Naeuri

Music for the 11th Shuntokai in the 10th year of Showa. This is a music piece of fresh, rapid and smart custom dancing from Edo.

Ukiyoe Moyo
